Instructional Aide Substitute positions offer an excellent opportunity for caring individuals to enrich the lives of students in a school-based setting. Flexible, per diem shifts provide you with the freedom to accept assignments that fit your schedule, making this role perfect for those seeking meaningful, adaptable work. By providing direct support to students in classrooms, you help foster an inclusive learning environment and contribute to their academic and social success.
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Successful TB test, per school requirements
- Able to stand, walk, and help students with lifting or mobility as needed
- School clearances (current or ability to obtain prior to starting)
Preferred Background
- Previous work in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
- Familiarity supporting students with special needs, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral challenges
- Training or experience with CPI, PMT, or RBT is a plus, but not required
- Reliable, patient, and collaborative approach
Role Responsibilities
- Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially, as directed by educational staff
- Deliver one-on-one or small group assistance to help students succeed
- Aid with daily routines, classroom transitions, and participation
- Implement positive behavioral support strategies and follow Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assist with supervision, mobility, and personal care tasks
- Help maintain a safe, respectful classroom atmosphere for all
