Role Summary: The Director Environmental Health, Safety & Compliance (EHS) is responsible for setting the strategic vision and company-wide execution of all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory programs. This position provides oversight for all EH&S initiatives across Corporate, Operations, Site Services, and Engineering functions, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including NJ, CA, MN, and MA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safety Program Management & Compliance
  • Lead the company's EH&S programs, including the Safety Committee, Safety Ambassador program and running monthly meetings
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and inspection programs across all areas of the company
  • Monitor compliance with company safety procedures and ensure alignment with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure they are accessible when needed
  • Promote EH&S awareness through regular communication and engagement
• Inspections, Audits & Risk Management
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and on-site reviews to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Prepare inspection reports and document findings with recommended corrective actions
  • Perform hazard and risk assessments and update policies or procedures as needed
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, mitigate, and prevent hazardous conditions
  • Maintain and manage an environmental risk register, tracking compliance trends and identifying potential issues across sites
• Incident & Claims Management
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Oversee and track workers' compensation claims
  • Manage vehicle accident reporting and claims
  • Analyze incident trends to reduce future risk and improve overall safety performance
• Environmental Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports.
  • Manage client and regulatory monitoring reports and ensure timely submission.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and U.S. Department of Labor statistical records across multiple sites
  • Monitor federal and state safety and environmental regulations and update company policies as needed
• Training & Development
  • Develop, schedule, and deliver training on workplace safety, emergency procedures, and OSHA/EPA requirements
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on EH&S practices and regulatory standards
• Construction & Operational Support
  • Manage and continuously improve the company's construction safety program, adapting to client requirements and regulations
  • Provide EH&S guidance and technical support for the design, construction, and operation of facilities
  • Conduct technical assistance visits and support site teams in resolving EH&S-related issues
• Travel
  • Frequently travel locally
  • 25% regional travel
• General Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred
• Relevant professional certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CSP strongly preferred; ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent also considered)
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in EH&S, risk management, and environmental compliance
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-state or national EH&S programs in regulated industries
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA (General Industry & Construction), EPA, and state-level environmental regulations
• Ability to perform field-based safety inspections, including use of personal protective equipment, climbing, walking uneven terrain, and accessing active work sites
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay range: $130,000$150,000 per year, based on certifications, licenses, and relevant experience.
