Medical Assistant
This Medical Assistant position supports an occupational health outpatient clinic by rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and assisting physicians with clinical and administrative tasks. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care while ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Responsibilities
- Room patients in an efficient and courteous manner, ensuring they are prepared for their visit with the physician.
- Measure, record, and document vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate accurately in the EMR.
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and examinations as needed, following established protocols and safety standards.
- Support occupational health services, including activities related to spirometry, audiology, drug screening, and breath alcohol testing, in accordance with training and regulations.
- Prepare examination rooms between patients by cleaning, restocking supplies, and ensuring equipment is ready for use.
- Document patient information, clinical findings, and procedures accurately and promptly in the EMR system.
- Follow clinic policies and procedures to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold high standards of patient care.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support smooth patient flow and a positive patient experience.
- Assist with other clinical or administrative duties as requested by the physician or clinic leadership.
Essential Skills
- MA Diploma earned from an accredited program.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
- Demonstrated experience rooming patients and obtaining vital signs.
- Proficiency using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to support physicians during clinical procedures and examinations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Occupational health experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with spirometry testing.
- Experience with audiology-related occupational health testing.
- Experience performing or supporting drug screening procedures.
- Experience with breath alcohol testing and related training.
- Familiarity with NIOSH-related occupational health standards.
- Familiarity with CAOHC standards and hearing conservation programs.
Work Environment
This role is based in an occupational health outpatient clinic located in Cambridge. The position is part-time at approximately 20.5 hours per week, with a set schedule of Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with a 30-minute unpaid break), Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (with a 30-minute unpaid break), and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clinic environment involves direct patient contact, use of EMR systems, and occupational health testing equipment such as spirometry and audiology tools. The setting emphasizes safety, professionalism, and collaboration among clinical staff while providing consistent daytime hours in an outpatient setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
