Who We Are:

MPI Energy is a global leader in battery technologies specifically valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) and lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries. Headquartered in Grand Prairie Texas we provide innovative backup power and energy-storage solutions across critical markets including:

  • Critical Power: Supporting data centers and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications.
  • Reserve Power: Serving telecom and CATV base stations as well as outside-plant sites.
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Focusing on utility-scale and commercial & industrial solutions.

Job Summary:

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation startup commissioning maintenance and troubleshooting of lithium battery systems used in data centers and energy storage applications. This role involves both field and customer-facing work supporting reliable system performance and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Startup & Commissioning:
    • Perform installation startup and commissioning of lithium battery systems for data center and/or energy storage applications.
    • Verify system configuration connections and operational readiness.
    • Execute functional testing and ensure systems meet performance requirements.
  • Maintenance & Service:
    • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on battery systems and associated equipment.
    • Inspect diagnose and service system components to ensure long-term reliability.
    • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair:
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in the field.
    • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Support repair or replacement of system components as needed.
  • Customer Support:
    • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
    • Communicate findings system status and recommendations clearly and professionally.
    • Represent the company during service visits and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with engineering operations and other technicians to ensure efficient service delivery.
    • Support continuous improvement of service processes and procedures.

  • Work Environment & Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to customer sites (regional or national).
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Work in industrial data center or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Mayrequire occasional after-hours or on-call support.

  • Required:
    • Basic electrical knowledge and hands-on experience (formal or informal).
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Willingness to travel and work in field environments.
    • Valid drivers license.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with lithium battery systems or energy storage systems.
    • Familiarity with data center environments or critical power systems.
    • Military technical experience (highly valued).
    • Prior field service or commissioning experience.
Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; relevant training certifications or technical aptitude will be considered in lieu of direct experience.
