Position Type :  Full-time

Start Date : Candidates should be able to start immediately

Position Duration :   1-year, scheduled to end on 12 / 31 / 2026. This position may be eligible for extension dependent upon budget and funding.

Pay :  $78,000-$88,000 per year, dependent on experience and education

Position Overview

MassCEC is seeking a Salesforce Database Administrator for a period of 1 year.

The Salesforce Database Administrator will be an integral part of the Data and Business Analytics division and will work to support the current build and implementation of a new organization-wide Salesforce Customer Relation Management (CRM) and Grants Management System (GMS). The Data and Business Analytics division is charged with the improvement of organization-wide data and metrics processes for better accountability and storytelling of MassCEC’s impact across the Commonwealth. With a foundation in best practices of data management, this division is also charged with ensuring alignment of data processes with our counterparts across the Commonwealth and to successfully implement the new Salesforce platform. With high quality data at our fingertips, our goal is to move toward the implementation of a full metrics program with the Salesforce CRM / GMS as our foundation and to respond to reporting requests quickly and efficiently about how MassCEC is helping to grow the clean energy economy and move Massachusetts toward achieving net zero emissions.

The Administrator will be an important contributor to the division’s day-to-day operations and will also gain experience about the innovative suite of MassCEC clean energy programs being carried out across the commonwealth. The Administrator will also have the opportunity to network and engage with industry stakeholders and participate in sponsored activities.

Core Responsibilities

CRM and GMS Build & Implementation

  • Participate in all aspects of the Salesforce CRM and GMS build, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the system meets business needs.
  • Translate program workflows into efficient Salesforce processes and configurations.

System Build

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize multiple Salesforce orgs. including Public Sector Solutions (PSS), Experience Cloud, Custom Objects, flows, reports dashboards and user permissions.
  • Configure and maintain permissions and security settings to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • System Administration & Maintenance

  • Solidify and document administrative processes for long-term system sustainability.
  • Manage user licensing and access in collaboration with our Senior Director of IT.
  • Oversee performance considerations for bulk operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day system maintenance, including updates, bug fixes, and performance optimization.
  • Reporting & Dashboards

  • Design and configure custom reports and dashboards for program teams, leadership, and finance.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by ensuring reporting tools are accurate, intuitive, and accessible.
  • Tool Integration & Automation

  • Collaborate with the vendor Salesforce Architect to develop and maintain integrations (AWS) / ETL pipelines between the Salesforce platform and external platforms (PowerBI, General Ledger system, HubSpot, etc.).
  • Collaborate with vendor to design and manage ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from legacy systems into Salesforce, ensuring schema alignment, data integrity, and seamless integration across custom objects, flows, and dashboards.
  • Configure and maintain automations within the system to improve data entry efficiency and data quality.
  • Automate workflows to reduce manual tasks and improve cross-team efficiency.
  • Lead new tool integrations to expand platform functionality and improve user experience over time.
  • Training & Support

  • Collaborate with internal staff and vendor to develop data quality assurance / governance guidelines and documentation.
  • Collaborate with vendor and other internal staff to develop and deliver end-user training sessions and documentation for staff to ensure confident use of the Salesforce platform.
  • Provide ongoing support for business users, troubleshoot issues, and respond to system-related inquiries.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical configuration and user experience to ensure high adoption and satisfaction.
  • Continuous Learning : Stay current on Salesforce releases and industry best practices through vendor engagement and user community participation.
  • Position Qualifications

    Education

  • Master’s degree or Undergraduate degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology, or Business.
  • Experience

  • This is an early career Salesforce Database Administrator role. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered. Masters degree preferred. Salesforce certifications such as a Certified Associate, Administrator or Platform certifications preferred. Other technical backgrounds will be considered, as well as demonstrated experience to learn quickly on the job to support our current Salesforce build and implementation.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator or similar role
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, workflows, and security models
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations, reporting tools, and user management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent time and project management skills utilizing Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum methodologies
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical and governance documentation and guidelines related to CRM platforms or systems
  • Comfortable using Office programs including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel preferred
  • Experience or interest in the clean energy industry, energy technology innovation or industry development
