Medical Office Assistant
This role supports a high-volume fertility clinic by providing compassionate, patient-facing clinical care and efficient administrative support. The medical office assistant prepares patients for visits, performs phlebotomy, manages scheduling and documentation in the EMR, and helps create a warm, supportive, and seamless experience for every patient.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome and prepare patients efficiently while creating a warm, supportive experience in a high-volume fertility clinic.
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, using both manual and electronic methods, and update patient information in the EMR.
- Perform phlebotomy with precision, ensuring patient comfort and strict adherence to clinical protocols.
- Use multiple blood draw methods, needles, and techniques to manage routine and difficult blood draws safely and effectively.
- Collect, label, and handle specimens accurately in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and related visits to support a smooth and well-organized clinic flow.
- Coordinate care and communication among patients, physicians, and the care team to support timely and comprehensive treatment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the EMR system for all patient encounters and procedures.
- Ensure exam rooms and clinical spaces remain clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Support physicians and other clinicians during patient visits and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the broader care team to deliver a seamless, patient-centered experience.
- Demonstrate a compassionate, patient-centered approach in every interaction, particularly in the sensitive context of fertility care.
- Adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume environment by managing multiple tasks, priorities, and schedule changes.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities and take on new responsibilities to support clinic operations.

Essential Skills:
- Medical assistant or patient-facing clinical experience required, including tasks such as obtaining vitals and performing blood draws.
- Phlebotomy experience required, either through certification with externship or at least 6+ months of hands-on experience.
- Proficiency with multiple blood draw methods, including venipuncture, straight needle, butterfly, and other techniques.
- Demonstrated experience handling difficult blood draws and working with various needles and syringes.
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or equivalent).
- Experience with EMR systems or the ability to quickly learn new electronic medical record platforms.
- Strong general technology skills to support EMR use and clinic workflows.
- Demonstrated patient care and medical assisting experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong attention to detail in documentation, specimen handling, and clinical procedures.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, especially in a sensitive specialty such as fertility.
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
- Medical Assistant certification (MA Cert) preferred but not required.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification preferred but not required.
- Prior experience as a medical assistant, administrative support professional, or phlebotomist is highly beneficial.
- Experience with specimen collection, venipuncture, straight needle, and butterfly techniques.
- Experience working in a high-volume specialty clinic, particularly in womens health or fertility, is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and empathy in emotionally sensitive situations.

- Comfort working within a structured schedule that includes early start times, weekend rotations, and holiday rotations.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a high-volume fertility clinic in Denver, CO, within a modern clinical environment that emphasizes patient-centered care and advanced reproductive medicine. The role follows a Monday-Friday schedule with five 8-hour shifts, with start times typically between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Weekend rotation is required 12 weekends per month, covering both Saturday and Sunday, with two weekdays off during weeks that include weekend shifts. A holiday rotation is also required a few times per year, including working one major holiday annually. The position is offered as a 3-month contract-to-hire role, with the possibility of extension prior to conversion. The clinic uses EMR systems and standard medical equipment for vital signs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection. Clean, branded scrubs are provided daily by the clinic and laundered on-site; staff change into scrubs at work, store personal clothing in a locker, and must provide their own lock. There is no free on-site parking available; staff are responsible for arranging and paying for their own parking, whether via street parking or purchased parking passes, and should plan for this as an out-of-pocket expense. Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
