Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Head of Digital Scholarship and Research Data Services, the Digital Scholarship Librarian supports faculty, students, and staff in the creation, use, and preservation of digital scholarship projects and research. This position collaborates with colleagues across the library and campus to advance digital scholarship initiatives, digital humanities projects, research data management, and open access publishing. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track assistant or associate professor position. The work schedule includes some evenings and weekends. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The mission of F. D. Bluford Library is to support and advance teaching, learning, and research at N.C. A&T through user-focused services, technologies, and physical and virtual learning spaces. We ensure individuals have access to globally trusted information resources that equip them with the knowledge to provide solutions to society’s challenges. The library serves nearly 15,000 students, over 1,900 faculty and staff, and the residents of the Piedmont Triad region. Open 24 hours a day, library users have access to over a million print and electronic resources, technology-enhanced group study rooms, over 200 computer workstations, wireless access throughout the building, mobile Internet devices, and archives that document the history of the University, and the region. Minimum Requirements - ALA-accredited master’s or other advanced degree appropriate to the position.- Experience with digital collections and digital scholarship platforms, such as institutional repositories, and/or digital asset management systems.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skill.s Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education o Knowledge of digital content and metadata standards.o Familiarity with applying digital preservation practices to support research data management.o Experience building campus or community engagement with digital scholarly collections.o Understanding of digital humanities and digital social sciences.o Understanding of the digital scholarship needs of interdisciplinary teams.o Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to manage digital scholarship projects.
