About the Role

We are seeking an onsite Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D Light Sources team. The Sr Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with scientists, optical engineers, electrical engineers, and system integration specialists to design the next generation of EUV light sources. The Sr Mechanical Engineer will work from concepts ranging from detailed CAD models to basic verbal descriptions, transforming them into functional, manufacturable mechanical components and assemblies for complex, high-vacuum, high-precision systems.

Designs must be robust enough for demanding operational environments, including continuous 24 / 7 industrial use. This is a highly hands-on rolebeyond design, you will be directly involved in prototyping, assembly, and testing, ensuring that systems meet both performance and manufacturability requirements. The work is fast-paced and agile, with projects often moving quickly from initial concept to deployed product, making this position ideal for someone who thrives in multidisciplinary, rapid-prototyping environments.

Your Role

  • Work from concepts and sketches provided by senior staff; use Solidworks to produce models, detailed parts, and drawings of parts for fabrication.
  • Take a project from sketch to complete installation.
  • Play a major role in the assembly and commissioning of each new instrument.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of prototypes of new instrumentation.
  • Plan for overall project and component design timing.
  • Create bills of materials (BOMs) as needed to fully document parts and assemblies for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate procurement of parts, specify materials, tolerances, and machining methods with outside vendors.
  • Maintain the parts and drawing catalog for each instrument, updating it as new parts are fabricated or procured.
  • Confirm system and product quality and capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods, testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Interface with other departments for design ideas and requirements, cross team functionality.
  • Conduct FEA including thermal modeling, vibrational analysis, and stress analysis.
  • Write reports documenting test results and design choice.
  • Propose design changes for mitigating failure modes observed during CAE or testing.

Qualifications (Required)

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Experience with mechanical design software, including extensive experience with complex parts and large assemblies (Solid Works a plus)
  • Experience designing parts and assemblies for use in ultra-high vacuum environment
  • Experience with revision control software (e.g., Enterprise PDM)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical, conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Qualifications (Bonus to Have)

  • Master's Degree
  • Semiconductor manufacturing industry experience
  • Experience with laser systems
  • Experience with EUV optical systems
  • Opto-mechanical design
  • Position Details

    The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$170,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and EUV Tech's location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the respective role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the following factors : job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
