A Day in the Life
Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting the medical team and ensuring every patient receives excellent care. In this position, you will work closely with veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, and other support staff to keep hospital operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians during patient exams, treatments, and procedures
- Safely and compassionately restraining patients during exams, diagnostics, and treatments
- Preparing exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas with necessary equipment and supplies
- Supporting diagnostic testing, including collecting samples and preparing laboratory work
- Assisting with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Monitoring hospitalized patients and providing comfort care under the direction of the veterinary team
- Cleaning and maintaining medical equipment and ensuring hospital areas remain sanitary and organized
- Preparing and stocking treatment areas, surgical packs, and hospital supplies
- Communicating with clients in a friendly and professional manner while helping support the client experience
- Maintaining accurate patient records and assisting with medical documentation in the practice management software
This role offers the opportunity to develop strong clinical skills while working alongside an experienced and supportive veterinary team.
Skills & Requirements
35 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and hospital workflow
Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
Strong multitasking and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Experience with veterinary practice management software is a plus
Ability to lift and restrain animals when needed
Compensation
$19.00 $23.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
