The security guard is responsible for guarding and patrolling company property, facilities to protect property and personnel against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and other hazards. Controls entrance points. May receive and direct visitors to desired areas. Periodically tours premises, examines doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure. Observes departing persons to guard against theft of company property. Maintains security reports and records. Reports irregularities and coordinates activities with local law enforcement agencies as required.

The duties and responsibilities include : standing or sitting at a fixed post or serving as a roving detail guard, monitoring CCTV and access control systems, monitoring and responding to alarms from various systems including access control, environmental health and safety, physical plant and fire panels, receiving and responding to emergency calls from employees, conducting after-hours patrols including walking designated tours encompassing the interior and exterior of Draper buildings, identifying and reporting security, facility or safety related issues such as leaks, smoke, fire, abnormal temperature conditions, suspicious individuals or activity, checking badges of incoming employees and contractors as well as issuing badges to visitors who have been vetted through Visitor Control, escorting visitors and contractors as required, ensuring that company and personal property is signed in and out of the facility as required, and other duties as assigned.

The skills and abilities required include : ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods required, ability to climb stairs and lift up to 25 pounds required, ability to communicate effectively and act professionally in a stressful environment required, basic reading, writing and communications skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite, first responder, CPR or AED certification preferred.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience : 1-3 years previous security, military or law enforcement experience preferred.
