Rebound is hiring a full time Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to support our Orthopedic team in Vancouver, WA. The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling of surgical procedures as well as preoperative and postoperative appointments. You will interact with physicians, patients, clinical staff, and outside surgical facilities. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians. This position is occasionally required to travel to other sites if needed.

Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate and schedule patients in clinic and by phone for surgical procedures across various facilities.
  • Manage surgery schedules of assigned providers, ensuring block time is optimized and filled appropriately.
  • Communicate surgical dates, times and pre-operative instructions to patients.
  • Educate patients on pre-operative testing, (labs, imaging, EKG, medical clearance) to ensure they are aware of their requirements.
  • Review case order and ensure all details are accurate in EMR.
  • Assist with obtaining lab reports, dictations, x-rays, and correspondence when needed.
  • Manage reschedules and cancellations of surgeries as needed, ensure reassignment of patients to maximize physician surgical time.
  • Coordinate add on surgery requests as needed.
  • Workflow management through the use of in basket messages and email. Responsible for frequently checking messages and responding to tasks throughout the day.
  • Issue patient educational materials. Assist in application and patient instruction.
  • Document according to established protocols.
  • Answer surgery scheduling phone calls, coordinate surgery with outside facilities / vendors, ability to problem solve to resolve issues, prioritize tasks appropriately, and must be extremely detail oriented and accurate in all areas of this position.
  • Keep current on OSHA & HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attends required meetings, and in-services, and participates in committees as requested.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Performs related work as required.

Requirements :

  • Graduation from High School or GED. Medical Terminology classes preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a surgery coordinator in a medical clinic environment preferred. Other education and experience will be considered in lieu of recommended qualifications.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a medical environment.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

    This position works Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays.

    This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position.
