Senior Director of Digital Video | The Hill
The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a Video Producer / Editor to create original videos for our website, social media platforms and our streaming channel. The Video Producer / Editor will report to the Senior Director of Digital Video, and work collaboratively with the other video producers, reporters, and our programming team. We’re seeking a highly creative candidate with excellent news judgment.
In-office position.
Any person in this position will be represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Communications Workers of America Local 32035, AFL-CI.
Responsibilities
- Quickly produce breaking news video packages with material from press conferences, Congressional floor votes, and related hearin
- gsSet up livestreams for the site, YouTube and our OTT platfor
- m.Fill in as OBS operator for OTT livestreami
- ngKeep up with a fast-moving newscycle with the ability to pivot as a story chan
- geFollow the news to the extent you can confidently and proactively conceptualize video series or standalone packages on relevant news and policy headlin
- esCollaborate with reporters and editors to produce videos centering their news stories and investigatio
- nsCreate compelling YouTube thumbnails and headlin
Qualifications
ns : Minimum of three years’ video producing experienceDemonstrated experience both pitching and executing video packagesKeen eye for strong and dynamic visual designSolid news judgment with an interest in politicsAbility to multitaskSolid understanding of audience engagement (ability to understand internal and competitive analytics to understand why certain videos command larger audiences)Skilled in all things Adobe Creative Suite, with specific experience in Premiere, After Effects, and PhotoshopENPS knowledge helpfulHighly resourceful team player, also able to be extremely effective independentlyExcellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to build relationshipsAble to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environmentBachelor’s degree in journalism, television production, or equivalent experienceAble to work nights and weekeBenefits
