Introduction
Roots Through Recovery has been providing comprehensive, trauma-focused addiction and mental health services in the Long Beach community since 2017.
What our patients say: Roots is the most welcoming, supportive program they've ever attended. Many have tried multiple treatment programs before but haven't felt understood, or their underlying issues weren't addressed. Treating SUD and co-occurring disorders through a trauma-focused lens helps patients heal and find long-term recovery in a community of peers who care.
What our staff say: Roots has allowed them to flourish in their careers, and given them the opportunity and support to learn who they are, professionally and personally. They love the creativity and freedom they're given in their roles.

We are actively seeking an Admissions and Intake Specialist within our substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment intensive outpatient program. As an essential member of our team, the Admissions and Intake Specialist plays a vital role in helping individuals navigate the complex landscape of seeking treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Position Overview
The Admissions and Intake Specialist acts as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking help within our program, whether they contact us via phone, website chat or form submissions. Their primary responsibility is to guide prospective clients through the admissions and intake process, ensuring a smooth and compassionate transition into our intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient (OP) programs. The Specialist's role is multi-faceted and involves assessing individuals for eligibility, verifying insurance coverage/eligibility, conducting the intake process and completing all intake forms, and coordinating appropriate next steps according to State and County requirements. The Specialist may also carry a caseload of clients.

The role of an Admissions and Intake Specialist within our outpatient substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment intensive outpatient program is a challenging yet rewarding one. By effectively guiding individuals through the admissions and intake process, the Specialist plays a pivotal role in helping individuals access the treatment they need to embark on their recovery journey. If you are passionate about supporting individuals in their pursuit of healing and possess the necessary qualifications and skills, we encourage you to apply for this vital position. Together, let us make a difference in the lives of those dealing with substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client Assessment: Perform thorough assessments of prospective clients to determine their eligibility for our program. This includes gathering information about demographics, substance use history, mental health concerns, and related background information.

  2. Insurance Verification: Verify the insurance coverage of potential clients, particularly those covered by Medi-Cal. Familiarity with Medi-Cal guidelines and eligibility criteria is crucial to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement processes.

  3. Intake: Conduct comprehensive intake with prospective clients to gather crucial information regarding their substance use and co-occurring disorders and complete all required intake documentation. These intakes should be conducted in a supportive and empathetic manner, ensuring that clients feel heard and understood.

  4. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the treatment team to support individualized treatment plans for clients, based on the information obtained during the intake process. This involves considering the unique needs and goals of each client, as well as their preferences for treatment modalities, and State and County requirements.

  5. Coordination: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as referring agencies, insurance providers, and other treatment centers, to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition into the program.

  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all client interactions, assessments, and treatment plans. This includes adhering to legal and ethical guidelines for confidentiality and record-keeping.

  7. Adherence to Regulations: Stay up-to-date with regulatory guidelines, licensing requirements, and best practices related to substance use disorder treatment. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

  • Familiarity with co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with coworkers and external stakeholders.
