Oral Surgeon Assistant

Overview

Western Dental is seeking an Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistant to support the Oral Surgeon in all aspects of patient care. The role emphasizes excellent communication with doctors and patients, ensuring patient comfort, and delivering an outstanding patient experience. Training is available to develop new skills and grow within the organization. A current radiation safety certificate for the practicing state is required. The assistant will take x-rays as directed by the Oral Surgeon and follow infection control procedures relevant to their tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Oral Surgeon at the chair during patient treatment.
• Anticipate the dentist's needs and prepare for next steps.
• Ensure all OSHA, Dental Board, and Western Dental Services policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain proper patient treatment records.
• Ability to take Blood Pressure.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions within the limits designated by the Oral Surgeon.
• Provide oral hygiene instructions to the patient.
• Turn on all units, switches, and water before the patient sits down.
• Stock supplies in oratories, restrooms, lab, and other areas as needed.
• Inform Floor Supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
• Inform Floor Supervisor of broken or malfunctioning equipment.
• Perform all duties of a Sterilizer when necessary.
• Build good rapport with patients and staff.
