Duration : 12 Months

Job Type : Temporary Assignment

Work Type : Onsite

Shift Timings : 08 : 00am-5 : 00pm

Payrate : $ 46.00 - 46.00 / hr.

Job Description :

  • Client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction sites.
  • The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations—including EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and operational practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, inspection reports, and training records.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and Client’s corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.

    • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of EHS experience in construction safety, preferably on federal or large-scale commercial projects required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • Must possess—or be willing and able to obtain within 6 months—a CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
  • EM 385-1-1 training and prior experience strongly preferred.
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience working with government contracts and compliance standards (e.g., USACE, NAVFAC).
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) proficiency preferred.
