We are looking for a skilled Project Accountant to join our team in Wilmington, NC. In this long-term role, you will focus on maintaining financial accuracy and providing key financial insights for assigned projects. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with project managers and the finance team to ensure successful financial management and compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Monitor and analyze project costs, revenue, and expenses throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accurate reporting.
- Ensure all projects comply with contracts, regulations, and internal financial procedures.
- Manage progress billing using established methods and ensure timely invoicing.
- Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support successful project execution.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports.
- Review and reconcile vendor invoices, accounts, and month-end statements to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting practices and procedures to support compliance.
- Perform certified payroll tasks and ensure adherence to all relevant standards.
- Handle other accounting-related duties as assigned to support the team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Solid understanding of general financial and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online.
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including AIA billing and certified payroll.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- At least 2-3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Comfortable working on job sites and traveling as needed.
