• Draft legal briefs and motions for removal proceedings before the Executive Office of Immigration Review, and develop appropriate legal defenses specific to client needs. Cases will include asylum, cancellation of removal, bond requests, adjustment of status in court, suppression of evidence and relevant motion practice before the Immigration Courts in the region.
• Conduct legal research and initial drafting of federal court litigation, including lawsuits addressing specialty occupations, agency delay and APA violations.
• Draft persuasive correspondence and summaries to relevant administrative agencies and respond to requests for evidence.
• Conduct legal research regarding regulations and procedures in immigration law.
• Assist with preparation for high-volume of family-based immigration cases including immigrant and nonimmigrant cases with USCIS and the Department of State. Cases will include marriage-based adjustment of status, family-based adjustment of status, removal of conditions, I-601 and I-601A inadmissibility waivers, 212(d)(3) waivers, VAWA petitions, U-visas, DACA petitions, diversity lottery petitions, TPS, Global Entry and others.
• Prepare family-based immigration petitions and applications, including assessing eligibility, analyzing relevant legal issues, developing evidence and addressing requests for further evidence.
• Conduct case meetings with Sr. Legal Assistants and Case Managers in accordance with standard procedure of the practice group.
• Consult with Senior Associate Attorneys and Partners on potential case issues and developing case strategy.
• Draft correspondence to clients and relevant administrative agency, as well as communicate directly with clients and agencies when applicable.
• Maintain organized legally compliant client files, update notes in database, monitor deadlines and communicate progress of individuals’ cases.
• Contribute to the development of practice processes to ensure team operates efficiently and effectively.
