Position Summary
The Host is the first and last impression of Golden Steer NYC, embodying hospitality and ensuring every guest feels welcomed from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. You’ll manage reservations, greet guests with warmth, and maintain the flow of the dining room with professionalism and poise. As the gatekeeper of the Golden Steer experience, you will balance precision, charm, and urgency to deliver the timeless service we are known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Reception : Greet every guest warmly and professionally, ensuring an exceptional first impression.
- Reservation & Seating Management : Manage the reservation system and waitlist, balancing guest expectations with operational flow.
- Dining Room Flow : Work closely with servers, managers, and bussers to maintain smooth pacing of seatings and turnover.
- Hospitality & Professionalism : Anticipate guest needs, accommodate special requests, and handle complaints with grace.
- Phone & Guest Communications : Answer phones, manage inquiries, and confirm reservations with clarity and polish.
- Cleanliness & Organization : Maintain a spotless host stand and entryway, ensuring menus and materials are always presentable.
- Team Collaboration : Support the service team by communicating table status and guest preferences effectively.

1+ year of host, receptionist, or guest services experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant preferred.Strong communication and multitasking skills.Poised, professional, and welcoming presence.Familiarity with reservation management platforms (Resy, OpenTable, etc.) preferred.English required; Spanish a plus.Operations & Compliance
Uphold NYC DOH sanitation standards in entry and dining areas.Follow safety and accessibility protocols at all times.Teamwork & Culture
Show up prepared, polished, and ready to deliver excellence.Communicate proactively with managers and teammates.Represent Golden Steer with professionalism and pride both in person and over the phone.Physical & Scheduling Requirements
Stand and move quickly for 8–10 hours.Nights, weekends, and holidays required.Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate plus benefits and opportunities for growth in a chef-driven, classic steakhouse culture. Final compensation commensurate with experience.
