Patient Care Assistant For Oncology ICU Or Stem Cell Transplant Unit

As a Patient Care Assistant for the Oncology ICU, or Stem Cell Transplant Unit, you are working in a very busy 24-bed unit with a 12 / 1 ratio that specializes in care of oncology patients, from diagnosis, treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation treatment, symptom management, palliative (supportive) care, clinical trials, and care of some stem cell patients. A high percentage of our patients have a diagnosis of leukemia, but we care for patients with all types of cancer. We are affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center and work closely with them to ensure our patients get the best cancer care possible. Many of our patients have extended stays to complete their course of treatment. This allows us to really get to know each patient and his or her family members and helps to form a therapeutic relationship and bond.

Full Time Night Shift Available (3-12 hour shifts)

Shift Hours can be from 6 : 30pm-07 : 00am.

Weekend rotation is Friday and Saturday, every 3rd weekend

Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor

Enjoy a flat rate $1 / hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

The position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit / department.
