Reports to: Executive Director

ABOUT INEQUALITY MEDIA

Co‑co-founded by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Inequality Media (IM) is a 501(c)(3) organization and Inequality Media Civic Action (IMCA) is a 501(c)(4) organization. IM educates and engages the public about inequality and imbalance of power through the use of digital media. A Berkeley‑based non‑profit with a core staff of 10, IM employs social media to reach millions of people each week with clear, compelling videos, broadcasts, and posts about what’s happening to our democracy, our culture, and our economy – and what people can do to put America on a path toward a fairer and more just society. Our audience includes over 10 million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms, and our videos have been viewed over nearly 100 million times.

IMCA also produces and distributes educational videos and digital content to inform the public about economic and social policy issues affecting working people. Some of its content may include commentary on public officials’ policy positions to illustrate contrasts in approaches to advancing economic equity and opportunity. IMCA has also made—and is digitally distributing—the 2025 hit documentary, The Last Class.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Inequality Media seeks a Managing Director to lead the daily management of the organization. We seek a mission‑focused, seasoned, strategic, and process‑mindful leader with experience leading complex organizations (including c3/c4 organizations), and developing a learning culture among a diverse and talented staff. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior executive with top‑level people skills, and a proven track record of creative problem‑solving, operational leadership, and financial oversight. They will join a team of technology and policy advocates and help lead them to become even more efficient, effective and nimble.

The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to lead a highly effective nonprofit organization, and share our belief that economic inequality is a defining social justice issue of our time. The Managing Director will serve as a leader in the organization, providing input on organizational long‑term strategy as part of the leadership team.
