The Director of Risk Management responsibility is to protect the hospitals assets from loss; responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure; the structure and functions of the Risk Management Program are designed so as to comply with guidelines and standards of The Joint Commission, other regulatory agencies, and the UHS T.E.R.M. program.

Essential Job Functions :

• Develops and ensures the implementation of organization policies and procedures related to on-going monitoring and improvement of quality of care; Chair QA / PI meetings; Review QA / PI monitors, checking program and department quality and appropriateness indicators; Report relevant QA / PI findings to medical staff / exec committee, PI committee, and safety committee including findings from risk management pharmacy and therapeutics; Provides staff in-service training on QA / PI issues
• Identifies the needs for performance improvement teams in specific areas
• Assists the Medical Staff in coordinating peer review activities
• Maintains an effective relationship with members of the medical staff ensuring immediate follow-up on physician concerns; reports risk management / performance improvement activities to the Medical Staff and Governing Board
• Performs risk surveys and inspects patient care areas in concert with hospitals safety (EOC) program committee objectives
