Job Description Summary / TWC Summary :

Under general supervision, the Assistant / Associate Professor is responsible for supporting and advancing the mission and goals of the university and the college / school in academic, scholarly, and student-support activities. The faculty member will teach at the professional, graduate, and undergraduate levels, develop curriculum and course content, engage in scholarly research, advise and mentor students, participate in departmental and college committee responsibilities, and contribute to the advancement of institutional goals and student success.

Essential Duties Summary :

  • Teach courses in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, general chemistry, or related areas at the undergraduate, professional (PharmD), and graduate levels.
  • Develop and update course materials and laboratory components relevant to pharmaceutical chemistry
  • Engage in scholarly research activities, including securing extramural funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at scientific conferences.
  • Participate in professional and academic service, including conferences, seminars, and peer-review panels.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and course design aligned with programmatic needs.
  • Serve on college, school, and / or university committees and participate in institutional governance.
  • Mentor and advise students in academic and research-related activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required in a dynamic teaching and learning environment.

Hiring Range :

$93,677.74-$121,781.00

Education :

  • A Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.

    • Required Licensing / Certification :

    None required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

    Knowledge of :

  • University policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Principles of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and organic chemistry as they relate to pharmacy education.
  • Peer-reviewed research and publication standards in the discipline.
  • Microsoft Office and relevant scientific software applications.

    • Skill in :

  • Effective teaching, mentorship, and curriculum development.Effective customer service.
  • Grant writing, research design, and scholarly publication.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making in academic settings.
  • Time management, multitasking, and interpersonal communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.

    • Ability to :

  • Contribute to teaching, research, and service at the university.
  • Maintain an active scholarly research program.
  • Work effectively with diverse student and faculty populations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty and researchers.

    • Work Experience : Required :

  • Prior university-level teaching experience appropriate for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

    • Preferred :

  • A distinguished record of scholarly achievement, extramural funding, and student mentoring experience consistent with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
  • Candidates with established research in areas that synergize with current faculty are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

    • Working / Environmental Conditions :

    Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity.
