The Opportunity
We're seeking an Of Counsel Attorney to assist with PAGA, misclassification, and wage-and-hour class action matters on a flexible, project-based arrangement. This engagement is ideal for an experienced litigator or solo practitioner who enjoys strategic, hands-on work with meaningful autonomy and the ability to shape case outcomes.
This is a true partnership opportunityyou'll lead or co-lead complex matters, exercise independent judgment, and contribute your expertise to cases that make a real difference for California workers.
What You'll Do
- Lead or co-lead complex employment matters , including class actions and PAGA claims, with full strategic authority
- Handle motion practice and discovery from strategy through execution, exercising your litigation expertise
- Provide case evaluations and strategic recommendations that shape litigation direction and settlement approaches
- Draft substantive pleadings, discovery, and briefs with minimal oversight, leveraging your experience and judgment
- Participate in settlement discussions and contribute to case development planning at the highest level
- Manage client communication with professionalism and strategic insight
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Active California Bar license in good standing8+ years of experience in employment or complex civil litigationDemonstrated background in PAGA, wage / hour, or class action work (plaintiff-side or defense experience both valued)Excellent legal writing, analytical, and judgment skills that inspire confidence in clients and colleaguesComfortable working independently and remotely with strong self-management abilitiesStrategic thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex employment litigationPreferred Qualifications
Solo practitioners or attorneys with existing infrastructure (especially encouraged to apply)Familiarity with electronic discovery platforms and legal case-management systemsExperience with both plaintiff-side and defense perspectives in employment litigationTrial experience in employment or class action mattersCompensation & Terms
Hourly Rate : $120 - $140 per hour, commensurate with experience
Engagement Type : Of Counsel / Independent Contractor (1099)
Hours : Flexible, project-based arrangement that respects your schedule and other commitments
Duration : Long-term collaboration possible based on mutual fit and ongoing case needs
Structure : Independent Counsel arrangement compliant with California Labor Code §2778(a)

This Of Counsel engagement is structured as an independent contractor relationship (1099) in full compliance with California Labor Code §2778(a). You'll maintain your independence while collaborating on specific matters, with flexibility to manage your time and workload.
