Global Tissue Group is looking for a talented Production Team Lead. This position will work 12-hour shifts and every other weekend. If you have a passion for manufacturing and leading people, this might be the position for you.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
- 3-5 Years of manufacturing experience, preferably in paper converting or similar operations.
- Previous leadership or team lead experience required.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production standards.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in using production data systems and reporting tools.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to train and motivate team members.
- Good decision making and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Coordinate and direct daily converting operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor machine performance, product quality, and output efficiency.
- Track production data (output, downtime, waste, changeover time) and report results at shift end.
- Ensure lines are properly staffed and materials are available to maintain continuous production.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead, coach, and support a team of operators, packers, and machine handlers.
- Assign work and monitor performance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Train employees on equipment operations, safety, and quality standards.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate goals, priorities, and performance updates.
- Support employee development and accountability for performance expectations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce all plant safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Conduct regular safety checks of machines and work areas.
- Promptly report and assist in investigating incidents, near misses, or hazards.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and corrective action follow-up.
Quality Control:
- Ensure products meet internal and customer quality specifications.
- Verify dimensions, wrapping, labeling and palletizing standards.
- Communicate defects or process issues and initiate corrective actions.
- Support and promote the plant’s quality management system and customer satisfaction goals.
Equipment and Maintenance Coordination:
- Coordinate with maintenance to address equipment issues quickly.
- Ensure operators perform basic machine care (cleaning, lubrication, inspection).
- Report recurring equipment problems and assist with preventive maintenance scheduling.
Housekeeping and Organization:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Enforce 5S standards and proper material handling practices.
Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as the main contact for communication between production team and plant leadership.
- Participate in shift handovers and production meetings.
- Coordinate with logistics, maintenance and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and lead improvement initiatives to reduce waste and downtime.
- Encourage employee engagement in problem solving and efficiency projects.
- Support Lean Kaizen and process improvement efforts.
