Dispatcher (Ride Solution, Washington, IN)

Essential Duties
1. Answers incoming calls promptly, gathers comprehensive information, and communicates information to the appropriate individual using a telephone, e-mail, or alternate methods in order to facilitate timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers.
2. Dispatches / communicates information to drivers, as needed, using a two-way radio system or alternate methods, as necessary, in order to facilitate the timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers.
3. Provides schedule / route information and directions to drivers, as necessary.
4. Communicates with the general public, including passengers, families, staff, community agencies, and other providers in person or using a telephone, e-mail, or other alternate methods in order to facilitate the timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers.
5. Contacts emergency personnel, such as police, ambulance, and fire department, when necessary, using the telephone, e-mail, or alternate methods in order to ensure the safety of all passengers.
6. Communicates with drivers and other appropriate individuals, as appropriate, to facilitate assistance as needed for vehicle maintenance issues.
Specific Duties
A.
Contact emergency personnel, such as police, ambulance, and fire department when necessary.
B.
Maintain customer files and forward the necessary information to appropriate personnel.
C.
Prepare and print daily driver schedules, making changes when needed, and relay the information to the drivers.
D.
Maintain internal recordkeeping systems necessary for efficient and up-to-date recordkeeping.
E.
Prepare data as requested by the Transportation Director or Coordinator for monthly transportation report.
F.
Assist in achieving established productivity standards in the areas of trips per service hours and average miles per trip.
G.
Complete activities or special projects as required or assigned.
H.
Maintain general understanding of the Mission and operations of the agency and its services. Represent Ride Solution and Four Rivers and the customers we serve in a positive, respectful manner.
I.
Comply with all Ride Solution and Four Rivers’ policies and procedures.
J.
Actively seek to expand and maintain professional and job-related skills by participating in training and learning opportunities made available, as well as by aggressively seeking additional means of professional growth.
K.
Exchange relevant information and ideas with Ride Solution and other Four Rivers’ personnel on an on-going basis both through informal means and regularly scheduled meetings.
L.
Promote and safeguard health and safety in all agency activities.
M.
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with and solve practical problems.
N.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing, with consideration of the employee’s current responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The dispatcher’s hours of work and work schedule vary. The position requires being seated for extended periods of time. The work environment is a controlled setting with normal temperatures and high levels of light. The position requires frequent interaction with drivers and the public.
Professional Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age; have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, with clerical skills and related work experience. Must be able to type, do word processing, and have computer experience, preferably with Microsoft Office.
Must be able to read a map and have good written and verbal communication skills.
Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and submit to and pass random, on-going alcohol and drug screenings.
Must be able to obtain an operators license with a “For Hire” endorsement and pass a CDL physical examination. This position requires intermittent driving.
