Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location : Columbia, SC 29203 (South Carolina healthcare jobs) Facility : Surgical Cardiac Stepdown Unit Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse Start Date : November 24, 2025 End Date : February 23, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour nights (19 : 00 - 07 : 30), 3 shifts / week Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Salary : $1800-$1840 Patient Population : Adults & Geriatrics Unit Size : 20 beds, average census 18 Self-scheduling and collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (South Carolina or compact state) Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or post-cardiac / vascular surgery nursing experience Current ACLS and BLS certifications Proficiency with EPIC EMR (minimum 1 year) Strong clinical skills in cardiac telemetry, central line and chest tube management, blood product administration, and post-surgical care Experience caring for post-cardiac and vascular surgery patients Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases Willingness to float to other hospital units as needed Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacements, and endarterectomies Monitor and manage cardiac drips, insulin protocols, and vasoactive medications Perform and document patient assessments, administer medications, and manage surgical drains and wound care Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams : IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services Educate patients and families on post-surgical recovery and cardiac care Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC EMR Float to Cardiac Telemetry and other appropriate units as required Participate in unit self-scheduling and weekend coverage Take the next step in your nursing career with this Cardiac Stepdown RN travel job in Columbia, SC.
