General Manager (Gm) Opportunity
We are looking for a General Manager (GM) to lead all aspects of the operations of a Fulfillment Center (FC), including people, process, and systems that deliver products to our customers as promised. Amazon.com's success is built on a foundation of customer obsession, and the GM of an Amazon FC is a key role in the first-mile value stream in support of the customer experience. The GM is a multi-faceted leadership role, requiring an executive to balance daily execution with the long-term development of a highly effective team. The role requires a detailed understanding of every operational component of a large facility, including associate needs, information technology, robotics technology, and process improvement. A successful GM will provide thoughtful vision and direction for the team while fostering bottoms-up input and participation in process-improvement from all levels of the organization. The GM serves as the face of the organization to thousands of employees and the entire community where the facility is located.
Amazon's field leadership roles manage facilities that can be over a million square feet with up to 5000 hourly and salaried employees. The ideal candidate will have a track record of developing teams and driving large-scale operational efficiencies. They will also thrive in a safety-focused and fast-paced environment that requires advanced technical acumen, problem solving, and effective people leadership skills.
Key Job Responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
A completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or 2+ years' Amazon experience
5 years' direct management experience leading an operation comprising of at least 500 salaried and hourly team members in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment
Successful history of leading and executing through performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean / Six Sigma methodologies with the ability to influence peers and drive continuous improvement
Knowledge of warehouse management systems including robotics, high-speed conveyor systems, and other highly automated equipment
Demonstrated ability to coach team beyond potential and successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership
Work flexible hours as the business demands, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
MBA or Master's Degree in a technical field
10+ years' operations leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment
Effective direct management experience of 1000+ staff, including a salaried and hourly workforce
Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons
Demonstrated ability to overcome adversity and operate within a constantly changing environment
A customer-focused attitude to improving throughput by leveraging critical support staff to achieve efficient processes.
Strong analytical approach to problem-solving with a metrics-driven focus on frugality without sacrificing safety or the customer-experience
Interest in long term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,500 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $221,000 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
