Position Summary
The Health Resource Specialist / Member Billing Specialist plays a dual role in supporting Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) operations. This position is responsible for screening callers for eligibility across various Nevada health care programs-including AHN, Medicaid, Medicare, and Nevada Check-Up-and assisting members with billing inquiries, payment processing, and account reconciliation. The role also serves as a backup for front desk staff when needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) - Required
- Clear understanding of AHN services, systems, and administrative duties
- Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills (oral and written)
- Compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds consistently
- Successful completion of a State of Nevada background check
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in client and staff interactions
Key Responsibilities
Screen callers for eligibility across AHN, Nevada Check-Up, Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance plansRespond to inquiries, explain program requirements, and take appropriate action on calls and referralsEvaluate caller needs with patience and professionalismProvide information on AHN programs and external resourcesAccurately input caller data into databases using critical thinking and coordinated strategiesWorking knowledge of RingCentral phone systemMaintain and update Access Medical and Healthy Living Plus membership accountsResearch and resolve account discrepancies in a timely mannerAnswer billing-related calls, process payments, and facilitate immediate resolutionsConduct retention calls to AHN membersProcess daily receipts and prepare accounting entries for member paymentsCollaborate effectively with members and internal departmentsSupport special projects as assigned by the Member Billing ManagerServe as backup for front desk operationsPerform other duties as assignedEducation & Experience
Education : High School Diploma required; AA Degree preferredExperience :Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
Minimum 2 years of computer experience (Microsoft OS, Word, Excel, internet, databases, reporting)Knowledge of public health programs preferredExperience with organizational communication and planningExperience with Accounting Seed and Salesforce preferredWork Environment & Physical Requirements
