Norfolk, VA Clearance : Secret Position Type : Full-Time AERMOR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV who will serve as a senior-level mechanical engineering professional responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical hardware product development, from initial concept and design through rollout, testing, and sustainment.
This is not a remote position. Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage the design, development, and production of mechanical systems and hardware products.
Translate system requirements and specifications into comprehensive mechanical design concepts and technical documentation.
Oversee all aspects of mechanical engineering processes, including modeling, prototyping, material selection, and fabrication.
Perform detailed mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, and structural performance evaluations.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables, ensuring alignment with customer and contract objectives.
Evaluate design feasibility, manufacturability, and maintainability throughout product lifecycle stages.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, software, and systems components.
Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable standards, codes, and safety requirements.
Provide leadership and technical direction to junior engineers and technicians, promoting design best practices and innovation.
Prepare and deliver presentations, design reviews, and technical briefings to senior management, customers, and stakeholders.
Serve as Task Lead / Manager, coordinating project resources, status reporting, and cross-functional communication.
Qualifications :
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 10 years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 14 years of professional experience.
Demonstrated experience overseeing the creation of mechanical hardware products from concept through rollout and lifecycle maintenance.
Strong background in mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
Proven experience leading engineering teams or projects, including task management and resource coordination.
Experience preparing and delivering technical briefings and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
