Engineer Diver (Structural Focus) - Mid Level

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking an experienced Structural Engineer Diver to join our New York City office (located in Midtown Manhattan) and local dive team. As the successful Engineer, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients - primarily in the New York City area. Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad may be required but most evenings, you will be home . The principal function of this position is to lead a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will also perform high-level analysis and design. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools. We perform these inspections for marine terminal operators, private clients, states, municipalities, the US Navy and many more!

Duties and responsibilities :

• Participates in site investigations of waterfront infrastructure such as marine structures, marinas, ports, container terminals, water control structures, etc.
• Assists the team so that scopes of work are fulfilled and that contracted deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget
• Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection teams, design teams, and other engineering disciplines
• Analyzes aged or damaged components of marine structures to assess load capacity
• Performs inspections utilizing commercial diving methods and techniques while adhering to field operation standards and safety procedures
• Actively assists in writing technical reports and manuals as needed
• Understands and maintains proficiency with State, Federal, and local agency design standards and criteria, practices, and policies
• Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
• Assists in proposals and cost estimates
• Performs other duties as required

Base salary range : $104,000 to $133,000
