Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a NM or compact license and strong teamwork skills for a hospital day shift assignment.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) of a hospital settingCare involves pre-op and post-op patients with start times at 0545 for pre-op and 0730 for post-opDay shifts with rotating 8- and 10-hour schedules depending on the phase of careFive shifts per week with weekends and on-call / call back required as neededFloating between departments and locations within a 20-mile radius is requiredUses Epic EMR; onsite training is availableConduct direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentationCollaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to coordinate careSupervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as requiredMust complete all unit-specific education, competency testing, and protocolsScrub and dress code requirements will be communicated during orientationOrientation includes BCA testing with one allowed retake; failure results in terminationHoliday shifts may be required based on departmental needsRequirements
Active NM or compact state RN license requiredMinimum of two years recent PACU experience requiredAt least one prior 13-week travel assignment requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross requiredAssociate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) requiredMust pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias (BCA) testing during the first week of assignmentApplicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not acceptedPrevious permanent staff at the facility must have a one-year waiting period to be eligible as a travelerBenefits
