Purpose of Position :
In alignment with leaders and employees, enable Humane Colorado to attract, develop, retain, and enable a best in class employee to fulfill the our mission. This includes but is not limited to recruiting and onboarding, design and administration of total rewards (compensation and benefits), recognition and engagement programs, leading compliance to employment laws and regulations and Humane Colorado guidelines, coaching and performance management, employee relations, communications with our team, and assisting leadership on a daily basis in a way that represents our mission and values.
Responsibilities :
- Manage the HR function with an eye to our mission, process improvement, scalability, and alignment of all components to attract and retain high performing talent.
- Oversee the recruitment and onboarding for all positions including posting, interviewing, background checks, selection, offers, and onboarding and orientation.
- Oversee the design and administration of Humane Colorado's benefit and compensation programs, ensuring they are competitive and represent the Humane Colorado's commitment to People Care.
- Coach and lead Humane Colorado's performance management initiatives, systems, and tools so that employees know how what they do matters in alignment with Humane Colorado goals.
- Oversee Humane Colorado's workers' compensation.
- Advise leadership on matters of employee relations.
- Conduct investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations as needed.
- Prepare and deliver reports and data analysis to support business operations and decisions.
- Ensure compliance with laws and guidelines including attention to benefit plans, workers compensation, FLSA, FMLA / FAMLI, retirement plans, and other benefit programs and solutions.
- Support development of departmental objectives and plans.
- Oversee HRIS system, ensuring successful operation of data and vendor feeds, ability to improve functionality and scalability of processes through technology.
- Manage external partnerships and vendors to provide services as needed.
- Develop and monitor the HR and Humane Colorado's personnel budget.
- Participate in inter-departmental meetings and discussions to support and develop Humane Colorado initiatives.
- Partner with senior leadership, the Director of People Development and Director of Volunteer Engagement in workforce planning including organizational succession planning, skill-gap analysis, and organizational design to maximize the efficiency of the organization's talent resources and engage in short- and long-term planning to support business objectives and growth initiatives.
- Manage and develop an effective staff : providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources.
- Determines staff qualifications and competency : recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards.
- Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Coaches and develops direct reports to meet positional and departmental goals.
- Work in collaboration with the Development and Marketing / Communications teams to support fundraising efforts and campaigns.
- Participate in donor events, meetings, and tours.
- Ensure program grant compliance, quality of services, and evaluations.

Compensation : Starting at $100,000-$115,000.00 annually (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
