Job Description & Requirements Specialty : CVICU Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 03 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN with at least one year of dedicated cardiovascular ICU experience and the ability to recover post-op CABG, licensed in VA or with a compact RN license. Responsibilities Position is in an 8-bed Cardiovascular ICU in a hospital setting Patient population includes adults recovering from cardiac bypass and cardiac surgery such as CABG, TAVR, VAD, pacemakers, and AICDs Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 1-2 depending on census and acuity Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, hoyer lifts, ventilators, Sara Stedy, PCA, Glucostabilizer, bedside cardiac monitors, Swan / PA catheters, and cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO with perfusionist support) Uses bedside cardiac monitoring; experience with Swan / PA catheters required 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required No local candidates accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius Responsibilities include managing critically ill cardiac surgery patients, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, and use of advanced cardiac devices Must collaborate with perfusionists for ECMO management and will coordinate with interdisciplinary care teams Rapid assessment and response to changing patient conditions is required No unit techs are typically present unless census reaches highest levels First day EKG exam is pass / fail with two attempts allowed and study guides available Every other holiday coverage is expected Candidates must be able to work with minimal support staff in a high-acuity environment Requirements Active RN license for VA or a compact state is required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required Minimum one year of dedicated CVICU RN experience including immediate post-op CABG recovery Proficiency with Swan / PA catheters required Experience with ECMO, IABP, and Impella devices is preferred Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide is provided) Must provide required documentation for consideration, including certifications and supervisory reference Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626705.
