Description :

The Mentoring Coordinator works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Support (CES) Services. The Mentoring Coordinator manages and supervises LUK’s Mentoring program, which pairs youth with a positive volunteer adult mentors within Central Massachusetts. This position will supervise staff and be responsible for day to day project management and reporting requirements.

The qualified candidate will have a Master’s Degree (preferred) in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience working with at-risk youth and families, and 3 years of experience providing staff supervision. Knowledge of behavioral health, violence prevention / intervention, substance abuse prevention / intervention, positive youth development and cultural responsiveness preferred. Group facilitation and strong relationship-building skills required. Excellent communication and computer skills required. Experience in fundraising efforts preferred. Valid driver’s license and own transportation required.

This is a full time position located in Central Massachusetts and will include community-based travel and implementation. Bilingual / Bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements : Purpose :

The Mentoring Coordinator manages and supervises Mentoring programming for youth, their families, and volunteer mentors within the CES Division.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Assist the Director and Assistant Director of CES with management of funder requirements, program design, implementation, evaluation of mentoring services, and overall component strategy.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships between project partners, community organizations, school partners, referral sources, LUK programs, and funders
  • Interview, train, mentor, and supervise staff, volunteer mentors and matches as needed
  • Build community partnerships and attend community meetings to increase number of volunteer mentors for the program
  • Provide oversight and management of staff, interns, mentors, and mentees in LUK’s participant, contract, and volunteer databases
  • Build the capacity of school partners, community organizations, and staff to support at-risk youth
  • Assist with program development, fundraising, and grant writing
  • Work with staff and Assistant Director to complete required reports, evaluations, and assessments
  • Participate in meetings / activities within the program and community as required
  • Assure effective communication between project partners
  • Ensure compliance with grant conditions and regulations
  • Gain an understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision, and Values and ensure staff provide congruent prevention services
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience Required :

  • Master’s Degree (preferred) in in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • 2 years of experience supervising staff
  • Knowledge of Mentoring best practices
  • Bilingual / bicultural candidates encouraged to apply

    Job Location :

    The Mentoring Coordinator will work throughout Central Massachusetts with access to office space in Fitchburg, Worcester and Webster. The position will provide community-based services and supervision. Transportation required. Ability to work remotely on occasion.

    Salary Range and Benefits :

    Pay Range : 7B. Salary Range : $57,500 – $64,500. Salary ranges within each pay grade are based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
