Opportunity Overview :

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel contract at Saint Lawrence - Canton - Potsdam Hospital. Join a dynamic team in a 5-room OR unit that handles a diverse daily census of approximately 20 patients. This is a crucial role requiring expertise across multiple surgical services.

Schedule & Commitment :

  • Shift : Day, 3x12-Hour shifts (07 : 00 - 19 : 00)
  • Hours : 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Call Requirement : Yes, mandatory call required (fair share, typically 1 : 6). Must be able to respond and arrive at the hospital within 20-30 minutes (20 minutes preferred, especially for emergent C-sections). The unit typically gives the day after being on call off.
  • Weekend Coverage : Required (fair share, including weekend on-call).
  • Observed Holidays : New Year's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (Holiday pay at 1.35x multiplier).

    • 🔑 Essential Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience : Minimum 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in the Operating Room.
  • Licensure : Active New York (NY) RN license required in hand to submit .
  • Certification : ACLS certification required.
  • Charting : Proficiency in EPIC charting is a hard requirement .
  • Traveler Status : First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Local Candidates : Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted .

    • ⚕️ Required Skills & Case Experience

    The RN must be proficient in scrubbing and / or circulating for the following surgical specialties and procedures :

  • General Surgery : Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal / umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial / total).
  • Orthopedic : Arthroscopy, Closed / Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy / discectomy, Total joint replacement.
  • Gynecology : Abdominal / Vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior / Posterior Repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures.
  • Urology : Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate.
  • Ophthalmology : Cataract extraction / implant, Eye trauma, Glaucoma surgery.
  • Podiatry : Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy.
  • Other : General OR, OB / GYN, Pain, Special Procedures.

  • Unit Name : CPH Operating RM (RN)
  • OR Rooms : 5
  • Patient Age Groups : Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, and Geriatrics.
  • Patient Ratio : 1 : 1 for all shifts (Days, Nights, Weekends).
  • Float Requirement : Floating is required .
  • Interdisciplinary Support : Includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and more.
  • Orientation : 24 hours of orientation (16 hours non-billable). Modules are billable up to 5 hours.
  • Scrubs : Grey scrubs will be provided.
