About the Role

They are hiring a Machine Learning / AI Engineer to design, prototype, and ship machine learning systems with a strong focus on large language model (LLM) workflows, real-world evaluation, and deployment readiness. This is a hands-on engineering role (not research-focused) where you’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to bring powerful AI into real student experiences.

Location : On-site, Berkeley, CA

Experience Level : 0–2 years

Type : Full-time, in-office

Compensation : Top-of-market cash with meaningful equity (0.1–0.3%)

Responsibilities

Build, scale, and own ML / AI systems.

Design evaluation pipelines and apply them to iteratively improve performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ship student-facing ML features.

Drive high-quality, high-speed execution in a startup environment

Requirements

0–2 years of professional ML engineering experience, ideally in product-facing roles.

Strong machine learning and software engineering skills.

Proficiency with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Django, plus experience with Postgres.

Hands-on experience with LLMs : orchestration, context management, evaluation, and fine-tuning.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Passion for building impactful products.
