Medical Assistant

The medical assistant will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The role supports clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient populations. The medical assistant is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform quality team-based patient care under direct supervision of a clinician.
  • Support clinician and care management teams in assessing and managing chronic diseases.
  • Examine and treat patient populations.
  • Conduct all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.

Essential Skills :

  • Medical assisting experience
  • Patient care skills
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Ability to take vitals (manual vitals preferred)
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Active driver's license
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications :

  • High School diploma required
  • 2 years' experience within clinic / back office healthcare setting
  • Medical Assistant diploma OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR 3 years' Medical Assistant experience
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
  • Experience with TriMed EMR preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices
  • Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly
  • Flexibility to float from one location to another as patient queue demands
  • Independent, responsible, and organized
  • Work Environment :

    The position is 100% onsite in a pediatric medical clinic. The work schedule includes Mondays from 10am to 7pm, Tuesdays through Fridays from 8am to 5pm, and every-other-Saturday from 7 : 45am to 11 : 45am. Flexibility to adjust to the changing work environment is essential.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Sunrise, Florida.

    Pay and Benefits :

    The pay range for this position is $36931.44 - $52157.56 / yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
