About the Role :

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a critical role in supporting healthcare teams by safely administering medications to patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This position ensures that patients receive their prescribed medications accurately and on time, contributing directly to their health and well-being. The CMA is responsible for monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects and reporting these promptly to nursing supervisors. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed and accurate medication records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. Through compassionate patient interaction and meticulous attention to detail, the CMA helps enhance the overall quality of care within healthcare and social assistance settings.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Current certification as a Medication Aide or equivalent credential recognized by the state or relevant regulatory body. (Certified Medication Aide- Medical Assistants do not qualify) & current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and healthcare safety standards.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, understanding their needs, and collaborating with nursing staff to provide comprehensive care. Critical thinking and observational skills enable the CMA to identify potential medication side effects or patient health changes promptly. Familiarity with healthcare technology, such as electronic health records, supports efficient documentation and compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, empathy and patience are vital interpersonal skills that help the CMA provide compassionate support to patients in diverse healthcare settings.
