DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist in the organization, storage, and documentation of medication in Elmhurst Home, Recovery Housing, and Naomi’s Nest
  • Ensure quality processes to include the completion and accuracy of the monthly Medication Compliance Audit for all clients at each facility as well as notifying RN and clinical staff
  • Assist with resolving medication discrepancies and concerns for clients when appropriate and consult with RN when necessary
  • Assist with RN with obtaining medication lists when appropriate for outpatient MH clients
  • Assist RN with medication education for staff when appropriate
  • Complete required documentation within the prescribed timeframes e.g., CM referral note when a client medication refill or other need is identified
  • Complete a weekly residential medication list for Elmhurst Home and Naomi’s Nest
  • Administer oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal medications by physician's order
  • Provide medication announcements and assistance to clients once a week at Elmhurst and Naomi’s Nest
  • Administer basic first aid within the educational scope (including CPR) as well as routine wound care within the scope of practice
  • Assist in writing bed passes and elevator passes
  • Conduct follow-up measurements for clients with specific conditions or abnormal readings and document findings ensuring to notify the RN
  • Other medical-related duties as deemed necessary to the function of the facility
  • Other duties as assigned by RN and / or EHI leadership with the scope of practice
  • Provide continuous review of each client’s medication log and medication ensuring client’s compliance with medication regimen. If the client is not in compliance, the nurse is responsible for notifying the client’s counselor or the clinical supervisor. (Special attention should be paid to psychiatric medication and to medication for diabetes, hypertension, and seizure disorders.)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current LPN licensure in the State of Michigan
  • Residential substance abuse treatment experience desired, but not required
  • Current CPR certification
  • No active warrants. Must have been discharged from all sentences including parole and probation for at least (5) years.
  • Must be able to pass LEIN check.
