Role : Senior Database Engineer / DBA

Location : Iselin, NJ / Houston, TX (3 days / week Office), Locals only

Job Type : Contract

Job Description :

The Senior Database Engineer / DBA will be responsible for supporting and coordinating all database activities in a MSSQL Server environment. This includes designing and creating databases, provisioning of roles and users, security and access control, deploying scripts, database optimization, monitoring, backup / recovery, resolving complex user related problems, and monitoring all database related work orders in a timely manner.

Provide database engineering support for large mission-critical systems running Microsoft SQL Server

Implement high availability, database replication, database sharding and partitioning
Learn new database technologies as application architecture evolves
Diagnose and resolve production database and application problems within defined SLAs
Develop proactive alert and monitoring tools to assist in high performance of large Microsoft SQL Server environment.
Plan and implement database upgrades and migrations as needed.
Assist internal and external stakeholders in developing high-performing queries and ETL solutions

Familiarity with AWS, on-premises, and Hybrid cloud solutions

Experience with identifying database performance issues and making recommendations towards resolution

Ability to write and maintain PowerShell, Python scripts

Knowledge of Agile Methodologies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Your Education & Experience :

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, or Engineering preferred

8+ years. of experience in Database Engineering (or Administration) with MSSQL Server in a production environment

Strong experience automating Database tasks via scripting methodologies (PowerShell, Python, etc.)

Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
