Spartanburg Steel Products is a major supplier of metal stampings and welded sub-assemblies for automotive, lawn & garden, agricultural, and construction equipment OEMs throughout the United States :

Job Description

Primary Objective

  • Managing the financial integrity and reporting of the company. Supporting the company's financial operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) using advanced accounting knowledge, independent judgment, and a proactive approach.

    • Essential Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed)

  • General Ledger Management : Maintain accuracy in the company's General Ledger and sub-ledgers, ensuring all financial records are properly documented and align with GAAP, to include, but not limited to, posting all necessary general ledger journals and applying cash receipts.
  • Accounts Receivable Management : Process customer invoices and payments accurately and timely. Monitor outstanding receivables, reconcile customer accounts, and follow up on overdue balances to ensure timely collection and maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting : Conduct detailed analysis of monthly financial reports, providing actionable insights to management. Reconcile General Ledger and sub-ledgers monthly to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Audit and Tax Preparation : Lead audit preparation efforts, ensuring all necessary documentation and support are available. Prepare tax filings, including sales & use tax, property tax, and other relevant taxes, to maintain compliance.
  • Accruals and Reconciliations : Prepare and post month-end and year-end accruals, ensuring completeness and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Collaboration with Project Managers : Work closely with project managers to reconcile project financials and optimize profitability.
  • Special Projects and Ad Hoc Analysis : Participate in and lead special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed, contributing valuable financial insights to support organizational objectives.

    • Qualifications

  • BS Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
