Cardiothoracic Surgeon Job Details

Location : Quincy, Illinois (62301) – Illinois healthcare jobs

Assignment Type : Locum tenens, part-time contract

Start Date : April 6, 2026

End Date : July 6, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Schedule : 1-2 weekends of coverage per month (potential for future 10-14 day stretches)

Shift : 12-hour call shifts (all call, no clinic duties)

Hours per Week : Approximately 36

Average Patient Census : 7 patients per day

Estimated Weekly Pay : $7,340 - $7,870

Cardiothoracic Surgeon Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license

No malpractice or disciplinary actions

Ability to provide a 24-month case log at the start of credentialing

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Healthcare Responsibilities

Provide on-call coverage for emergent cardiothoracic surgery cases in a hospital setting

Round on post-surgical patients and respond promptly to changes in patient condition

Manage referrals from Cardiology, with a focus on CABG cases and performing CABG procedures as needed

Participate in morning rounds and deliver urgent surgical interventions as required

Collaborate with the Cardiovascular Unit and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
