About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Senior Business Development Manager to join our high-performing, cross-functional commercial team. This is a senior-level role focused on driving new client acquisition and expanding existing customer relationships across our Drug Substance and Drug Product portfolio. You will be accountable for achieving individual sales targets while enabling the success of the wider commercial team. With a deep understanding of market dynamics, you will develop and execute a nimble territory strategy, build a robust pipeline, and deliver tailored solutions that address complex customer needs. Key Responsibilities Own the full business development lifecycle from lead generation to contract close. Achieve sales targets through a strategic mix of profitable wins. Develop and execute a comprehensive territory strategy based on market intelligence. Identify and nurture project opportunities, building a strong pipeline. Understand customer problem statements and collaborate with SMEs to craft bespoke solutions. Maintain a high level of travel for client meetings, conferences, and seminars. Monitor competitive landscape and develop tactics to gain market advantage. Collaborate with technical and operational teams to identify up-sell opportunities. Communicate with clarity and brevity across all levels of the organisation. About You Educated to degree level in Chemistry or a relevant life science. 3–5 years’ experience in the CDMO sector, with proven success in selling Drug Substance and Drug Product services. A natural deal-maker with a strong grasp of commercial strategy and client engagement. Deep understanding of the drug development process and current market trends. Well-connected with decision-makers and influencers across your territory. Empathetic communicator with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude and hunger for new business. Scientifically and commercially astute, with a flair for creative thinking.
