General Summary

The Perioperative / PACU Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise and adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education within hospital guidelines to ensure quality outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities accurately to support compliance with quality measures.
• Effectively communicate with physicians, team members, patients, and families to improve care and patient experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Adapt positively to healthcare dynamics and pursue continuous professional development.
• Perform delegated tasks to maintain quality and patient safety.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing school required.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Requirements

Mental and Physical Demands

Requires considerable mental focus, frequent walking, lifting up to 35 lbs, and various physical movements such as standing, turning, pushing, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
