HWC is seeking an Economic Development Project Coordinator to spearhead innovative projects that transform communities across Indiana. Working with cities, towns, counties, and private sector partners, you'll assist with identifying economic opportunities, securing transformative funding, and implementing action-oriented solutions that deliver measurable results. As a key member of our Indianapolis economic development team, you'll leverage your strategic thinking and relationship-building skills to :
- Craft compelling narratives that inspire stakeholder action and investment
- Develop innovative strategies and implementation plans that drive sustainable economic growth
- Create visually engaging materials that effectively communicate complex economic development concepts to diverse audiences
HWC approaches economic development through our multi-disciplinary team of economic development and public administration professionals, planners, landscape architects, and engineers. Our services span economic development plans, strategic investment plans, interchange plans, regional development plans, public-private partnerships, and consulting services designed to create lasting impact for our public sector and private sector partners.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Economic Development
Develop bold, innovative strategies for public and private clients to maximize the potential of economic development assetsBuild compelling narratives for clients to help secure transformative funding through public, private and not for profit sourcesLead action-oriented planning processes that deliver tangible outcomesAnalyze market conditions and economic trends to identify strategic opportunities for communitiesPublic-Private Partnerships
Facilitate creative housing, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use development initiatives by connecting public goals with private sector partnersNavigate creative project delivery methodologies to support successful strategy implementationDesign and implement unique partnership models that leverage both public and private resourcesPolicy & Public Administration
Translate economic goals into practical implementation frameworksFacilitate workshops and training for local governments on economic development best practicesAssist clients in developing organizational structures that support growth initiativesCreate performance metrics and evaluation frameworks to measure economic development successProject Management
Lead projects effectively from proposal development through satisfactory completionEffectively manage program implementation to ensure commitments are fulfilled, accountability is maintained, and promised outcomes are achieved on time and within budgetDevelop and maintain long-standing client partnerships through consistent communication, value delivery, and trusted advisory relationshipsFacilitate public participation activities to identify priorities and build consensusManage multiple stakeholders including consulting firms, government agencies, and private investorsComplete background research, analysis, and GIS mapping to support strategic decisionsPrepare compelling interim and final documents incorporating writing, mapping, and graphic designMeet deadlines and budget requirements while maintaining high quality standardsIdentify new opportunities to expand services with existing clients based on evolving community needsWHAT YOU NEED
A deep-seeded passion to make an impact in communities through projects that improve the quality of life and economic sustainability for communities across the state.Bachelor’s degree in planning, economic development, public policy, public administration, political science, business administration or a related field.3-5 years of professional experience.Excellent graphic design skills.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS is preferred but not required.Excellent communication and writing skills.Ability to think critically, manage time and problem solve.Strong data analysis and organizational skills.Complete competence working well independently and on a team.Applicant must possess high ethical standards, have a strong sense of commitment to self-development, teamwork, and a desire to work in a deadline-driven team environment.Why Work with Us
