Overview
As an investment associate within the Manager Research Team, the candidate will play a critical role in evaluating and selecting investment managers across various asset classes. The candidate will conduct thorough due diligence on investment strategies, assess manager performance, and provide recommendations to support investment decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Manager Due Diligence : Conduct comprehensive research on investment managers, including analyzing historical performance, investment processes, risk management practices, and organizational structure.
- Quantitative Analysis : Utilize Morningstar Direct to assess manager performance, risk-adjusted returns, and portfolio characteristics. Develop and maintain quantitative models to support investment decision-making.
- Qualitative Analysis : Evaluate qualitative factors such as manager experience, team dynamics, and investment philosophy to assess suitability for inclusion in investment portfolios.
- Investment Recommendations : Prepare written investment recommendations based on due diligence findings, presenting key insights and conclusions to senior management and investment committees.
- Client Engagement : Support client-facing teams by providing insights on manager selection and portfolio construction.
- Market Research : Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes impacting investment managers and their strategies.
- Collaboration : Work closely with other members of the Manager Research Team, as well as colleagues in Asset Allocation, and portfolio strategy teams to ensure alignment of investment strategies with client objectives.
Minimum Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field. CFA strongly preferred.Minimum Prior Work Experience Requirements
3+ years of experience in investment research, due diligence, or related field.Minimum Special Requirements
Demonstrate a profound understanding of mutual funds, ETFs and SMAsStrong analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative analysis and financial modeling.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, concise recommendations.Detail-oriented with a rigorous approach to research and analysis.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Team player with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to excellence.Physical Requirements
This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
