Family Practice physician job in Massachusetts : Primary Care Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Permanent RoleLocation : Fitchburg, MassachusettsSetting : Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)Schedule Split : 60% Clinical / 40% AdministrativeReporting To : CEO / Senior LeadershipSupervises : Physicians, Mid-level Providers, Site Medical Directors Key Responsibilities : Clinical & Operational Leadership
Oversee all clinical medical services and act as the primary clinical leader
Provide direct patient care (primary care panel) 60% of the role
Lead provider team, ensuring quality and continuity of care
Serve on the Senior Management Team Training, Quality & Oversight
Lead clinical training and continuing medical education for staff
Oversee Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement programs
Supervise midlevel providers and facilitate regular clinical meetings
Participate in on-call rotation Strategic & Administrative Duties
Develop medical operations plan, optimize provider utilization
Set productivity goals and allocate responsibilities
Direct service expansion and specialty recruitment
Lead credentialing, privileging, job descriptions, and staff evaluations Governance & Community Integration
Attend and report to the Board of Directors; serve on relevant committees
Represent the health center in the Community Care Cooperative (ACO)
Lead community outreach initiatives and participate in local partnerships
Coordinate interdisciplinary care with dental, behavioral health, social services, WIC, etc. Budgeting & Planning
Participate in budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation
Provide input into the Health Centers strategic care and grant planning Candidate Requirements :
MD or DO Required
Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine / Pediatrics Required
Massachusetts Medical License Required
DEA, DEA-X, MA Controlled Substance License Required
ACLS or CPR / AED Certified
Minimum 5 Years of full-spectrum family practice experience
Eligible for hospital and health center privileges
Proven leadership experience in a multidisciplinary setting strongly preferred Additional Details :
Must be able to travel between sites and attend offsite meetings / conferences
Physical / mental ability to meet demands of a high-responsibility leadership role
