Crucial Link is recruiting for this Direct Hire position in Cleveland. Please review the information below.

Monday through Friday 7am-530pm and occasional Saturdays 7am-12pm when needed.

$24-$34 per hour depending on experience

Position Summary :

We are currently seeking an experienced Horizontal Boring Mill Operator to set up and operate manual and CNC horizontal boring mills to produce high-precision, large-scale components. The ideal candidate will have experience with large part machining, strong knowledge of blueprint reading, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Set up and operate manual and / or CNC horizontal boring mills (including work with 90″ x 180″ CNC envelopes)
  • Machine parts to close tolerances as specified by engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Select proper tooling, make tool offsets, and input basic CNC code adjustments as needed
  • Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and bore gauges to ensure part accuracy
  • Load and align large workpieces using overhead cranes and fixtures
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and customer specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance and care of machines and tooling
  • Document production and inspection results; maintain job traveler accuracy
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet job requirements
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification a plus
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating horizontal boring mills (manual and / or CNC)
  • Strong blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) skills
  • Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls preferred
  • Ability to work with large components, heavy lifting (with crane assistance), and tight tolerances
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to producing high-quality, precision work with minimal supervision
  • Preferred Skills & Experience :

  • Experience with CNC vertical boring mills and CNC turning centers (up to 90″ dia. x 60″ height)
  • Familiarity with automatic tool changers and through-spindle coolant systems
  • Overhead crane certification or experience handling heavy parts
  • Experience machining for industries such as power generation, aerospace, or forgings
