Summary
The Conferencing and Media Technology Specialist position works closely with other members of Conferencing and Media Learning
Spaces (CMLS) and the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) to provide an efficient support structure for the Hollywood
Station remote site. This position’s primary function is to provide support for multimedia equipment and distance learning
technologies used by students, faculty, and staff at the Hollywood Station site. In addition, he/she acts as a remote presence for all
teams within DoIT and is expected to assist in troubleshooting and problem resolutions, which may pertain to IT roles in addition to CMLS. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Conferencing, Media, and Learning Spaces
Essential Functions
Support multimedia room usage and maintain/repair multimedia room equipment by:
Troubleshooting issues received via work ticket, instant message, text or phone.
Using web-based consoles to remotely control multimedia system to resolve issues quickly.
Routinely test multimedia equipment and collaborative technology spaces to ensure functionality.
Repairing or replacing broken cables, connectors and equipment as needed.
Reporting issues that need further evaluation or cannot be fixed in-house to the Conferencing and Media Specialist (FT) or Associate Director of Conferencing, Media and Learning Spaces.
Provide on-site tier 1 and 2 support at the site for various IT needs by:
Assisting users at the site with general university IT support questions/concerns.
Working closely with the Desktop Support team to provide troubleshooting and support for endpoint/computer and printing issues.
Working closely with the Network Operations Center team to provide troubleshooting and support for network/connectivity issues.
Working closely with the Associate Director of Conferencing and Media Learning Spaces and the Director, Technology Delivery, on any major hardware/software rollouts or projects at the site.
Working closely with various vendors whose assistance may be needed to address IT support issues at the site.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications/Requirements
An Associate's degree, or vocational/technical school degree in AV Repair, AV Installation, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Video Conferencing is required.
1-3 years of related experience is required.
An understanding of conferencing and media equipment setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and basic repair experience is required.
Intermediate experience with MS Office suite applications (specifically Word, Excel).
Answer/make phone calls, reply to emails, respond to texts/chats, and create/update work tickets in a timely manner.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Knowledge of industry standards and new technology trends.
