Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry / Step Down position requiring strong cardiac, IMC / PCU / Tele experience and proficiency with Epic charting.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes post-op CABG / valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP / MI, and med / surg overflow cases such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and fem pop bypass
  • Typical patient ratio is 1 : 4 in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
  • Float to all inpatient units as needed
  • 12-hour night shifts from
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • No on-call or call-back responsibilities
  • Responsibilities include caring for acutely ill cardiac and post-surgical patients, handling high turnover, and managing a dynamic workload independently
  • Scrub colors may be any color of your choice
  • Candidates must demonstrate resilience, ability to manage change, and strong communication skills
  • Travelers may be placed on call during low census periods up to 36 hours per contract and will receive call back pay if called in
  • RTO must be discussed at the time of offer
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
  • First time travelers will not be considered for this position

    • Requirements

  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must have at least 1 year of strong cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU, and 2 years of IMC / PCU / Tele experience
  • Applicants must have completed at least one travel assignment previously
  • Experience administering Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips is required
  • Must have 1 year of recent Epic charting experience
  • Ability to pass an EKG test during the first week of employment
